Description

A Hittite red ware thick pottery vessel with spherical body, rounded lip, broader at the front, with a single side loop handle, a conical spout on one side of the body with three holes for restricting pouring, a loop extends from the spout to the body. It was used for storing liquids like water, oil, and wine. The red color comes from firing local clay in an oxidizing atmosphere.

The Hittites were ancient Indo-European people who formed a major empire in Anatolia (modern-day Turkey) in the 2nd millennium BC, rivaling powers like Egypt and Babylonia.
